This is the official site of one of Netherlands few budding cricket clubs. A strange club indeed, as the homeground is actually a streetname not a cricket pitch, no 'real' games are played and the team exists only on paper. The reason being that our version of cricket is a play-by-email game. The name of the club N.I.S.I.T.A. is derived from an old Amsterdam student fraternity,of which the founders of N.C.C. are members. The fraternity was founded exactly eighty-six years ago before N.C.C., on 22 February 1912. A link to N.I.S.I.T.A.'s homepage (in Dutch) can be found at the bottom of the page.
How did we come about playing virtual cricket? The two managers, fanatical followers of the 'game of games', happened to chance upon Ultra Cricket, the world's only play-by-email cricket game, whilst surfing on the Net. As we haven't the time (nor the talent, mind you!) to play for real we decided to give this a go. From March/April 1998, N.C.C. will be participating in a competition that involves teams from every corner of the globe. For the N.C.C.-team, visit the Ultra Cricket homepage, click on TEAMS, and look up Waiting Lists and team-abbreviation NIS in the list of teams. For all the season's results, updates, the other, mind-boggling, statistics so often associated with cricket, and information on how to start your own team, contact Ultra Cricket now!
